L'AURA INTELLIGENCE BRIEF — ISSUE NO. 01 THE AGENT ECONOMY TAKES SHAPE March 18, 2026 This is the inaugural L'AURA Intelligence Brief. Our thesis is simple: in 2026 the agent economy stops being a demo reel and starts becoming infrastructure — and infrastructure has moats. Our job is to measure them honestly. THE FRAMEWORK MoatRank scores a project across five structural dimensions, each 0–20, summing to 100: - Structural Integrity — is the architecture sound, audited, resilient at scale? - Behavioral Coherence — do stated goals match delivered work? - Governance Maturity — who controls it, how open, how decentralized? - Adoption Legitimacy — is usage organic and real, or incentive-farmed? - Composability Index — how well does it integrate into the wider ecosystem? Scores are EDITORIAL, not algorithmic. A project can be technically brilliant and still score low on governance. We flag vendor-reported numbers as such, and we say "not found" rather than guess. WHAT WE SEE IN EARLY 2026 The single most important move of the last quarter happened off the product roadmap: in December 2025, Anthropic donated the Model Context Protocol — the de facto standard for connecting agents to tools — to a new Agentic AI Foundation under the Linux Foundation, co-founded with Block and OpenAI. When the connective tissue of an ecosystem leaves its corporate owner for a neutral foundation, the moat shifts from "who owns it" to "who builds on it." That is the story we will be tracking all year. Beneath the protocol layer, the application layer is consolidating around a few orchestration runtimes, and the unglamorous plumbing — memory, evaluation, identity — is starting to attract real capital. Governance is stirring too: in January, Ethereum shipped ERC-8004 to give agents on-chain identity and reputation, and Singapore's IMDA published the first national governance framework written specifically for agentic AI. THE POSTURE We are deliberately anti-hype. Most "agent economy" coverage rewards announcements. We reward delivery, neutral governance, and organic adoption — and we penalize single points of failure, even fashionable ones. Issue by issue, this brief will track the MoatRank board and explain what moved and why.
